Head4Q: What is Boston SciFi?
A: BostonSciFi is an abbreviation for Boston Science Fiction Film
Festival and Marathon, the oldest genre festival
in the country, and second oldest genre film festival
in the world (we think). We are 43 years old this year or as we are fond of saying, SF42.

Q: When is it?
A: It always ends on President’s Day Holiday. This
year that means Feb 19. It’ll starts Feb 9. So SF42 will take place between Feb. 9 through Feb 19, 2018. The first part of the Festival which highlights features, shorts, and more with curated and submitted films from around the world. It ends with an all day & night Marathon of films that starts on Sunday Feb 18 at noon, and will conclude 24 hours later at noon on the 19th, in other words, the oldes, largest binge view in the world.

Q: Where is it?
The Somerville Theatre is in Davis Sq. Somerville. Davis Square is perhaps the coolest place in Boston with lots of very good restaurants, bars and boutiques. The Somerville Theatre is the heart of Davis Sq. It is a vintage 1914 vaudeville cum movie theatre wth four additional movie screens and a Screening Room. It is easily accessible via the Red Line on the mass transit system (The T). It is located at the Davis Sq stop and is literally right next to it. The T connects the Somerville to all of metro Boston. It is two stops away from Harvard Square.

Q: How does it work?
A: A Like we said, BostonSciFi is in two parts. The first part, the Fest, which starts Feb 9 and runs through Feb 17. It is nothing but submitted & curated films from around the world. The concluding event is The Marathon (aka The Thon), which is 24 hour non-stop orgy of film. It starts at noon on Sunday Feb 18 and ends at noon on Feb 19. Think of it as the original extreme binge viewing except your living room has about 800 of your new best friends

Q: Can I buy a ticket?
Sure, we’d love it if you did. You can buy a Festival Pass good for all films and events through out the Festival including the Marathon. Or you can buy just a Marathon ticket. Individual film tickets for Festival, but not Marathon, are available shortly before they play on our web site www.BostonSciFi.com. Festival passes give you access to all films, including the Marathon as well as events and parties.

Q: Is there parking?
Yes. There is on street parking available as well as a few lots. If there is snow, parking spots may become scarce. We recommend parking at the MBTA Alewife parking lot ($7 all day). Then take the Red line in, one stop. Cheap & convenient.

Q: Where can I learn more?
A: Poke around here on the web site, visit our Facebook page (facebook.com/bostonscifi) or stop by the theatre.
